Two domains, one standard.
Most of our work is on the water. Not all of it.

Seven disciplines, one method.
Every engagement is scoped, carried out and reported to the same standard - in a format that stands up commercially, legally and with insurers.

05 - Safety Management Systems
A system your crew can actually run.
Safety Management System development is a core discipline here - not document writing. We build new systems, restructure existing ones and support implementation, so the SMS works on board as well as it reads ashore.
Documentation is aligned to the ISM Code and, where it matters commercially, to SIRE 2.0 expectations - then simplified and standardised so people use it instead of working around it.

About Urban Navis
Built on how a ship actually runs.
Urban Navis is an independent marine surveying, auditing and consultancy practice. We work for shipowners, ship managers, operators, charterers, terminals and maritime organisations - on board, in port and ashore.
The practice exists because too many reports describe paperwork rather than the vessel. Our work starts from operational reality: what the crew can actually do, how equipment is actually maintained, and where a system is genuinely failing rather than merely unsigned.
Behind Urban Navis is practical maritime experience from both sides of the business - seagoing experience as a Master Mariner and shore-side experience as a Marine Superintendent. That combination is why our findings are specific, evidenced and usable.
We are independent and free of conflicts of interest. We do not sell the equipment we inspect, the certification we audit against, or the systems we review.

Why Urban Navis
What you get, every time.
Independent judgement
No commercial ties to yards, suppliers, class or certification bodies. The finding is the finding, and it is ours to defend.
Operational experience
Surveys and audits carried out by people who have run ships, not only read about them - so the assessment matches what the vessel actually does.
Clear reporting
Findings ranked by significance, evidenced photographically, and phrased so they hold up commercially, legally and with insurers.
Ship and shore perspective
We assess the vessel and the management system behind it, because the problem rarely lives in only one of them.
